| | | Battery problems | | I have a brand new Nikon digital camera and the battery is really boggling my mind! A few weeks ago I charged my battery over night. I know that it was plugged in correctly and charging because I checked it a few times before going to bed. When I woke up I put the battery in my camera and went to use it later that day and the battery didn't last long at all! The battery is very new, it has only been charged a few times, so I know it's not completely dying. But what I am wondering is if charging it too long can take the life out of it? My manual says it only needs to charge 100 minutes, but I charged it for probably 6 or 7 hours (over night.)Any ideas as to what the problem could be? I'm hoping to get it figured out so my camera works well on our honeymoon in June! | |
| | | A True End Of An Era: Kodak Discontinues Kodachrome | | Many of my friends here have digital cameras. I'm one of the hold-outs and still use my Nikkormat EL-W camera I got way back in 1977...yes, it still works--talk about Nikon reliability! Also to be honest, I just plain don't have the funds to get a digital camera...my yearning is to get the more expensive line Nikon digital DSLR'sBack in 1976 I actually got my first 35mm film camera a Kalimar and quickly upgraded to my Nikon a year later. I also learned how to develop my own black and white film and prints and LOVED it...it gave me such a sense of control over my images as I could custom edit and print them---Photoshop just CAN'T hold a candle to what can be done like printing ones own photos as far as quality (contrast, "dodging", "burning") As far as color film I used Kodachrome slide film...this was the film of choice for us professionals...all those spectacular photos gracing the covers and inside magazines like National Geographic were taken on Kodachrome. The color "saturation" of Kodachrome couldn't be beat...I've noticed the color quality of digital photos and they just don't look the same. From 1976 up til now I've still used Kodachrome film...I have 21,049 color... | |

| | Seeing is believing with the Nikon D50 | | Although Nikon has discontinued the D50 range, it remains one of the top SLR performers. I use this camera because: Nikon is truly a name that needs no introduction in the world of photography, long associated with superior lenses and rugged, fully-functional cameras. The Nikon D50 extends most of the capabilities of the D70 down to a lower price category. The Nikon D50 features a new 6.1 effective megapixel Nikon DX Format CCD image sensor and a highly advanced image processing engine that team up to create truly faithful image files capable of enlargement, yet remain manageable in overall file size, simplifying the storage of more great pictures. These optimized components produce more consistent results, even under shooting conditions that challenge other digital cameras, such as when working with light-coloured subjects or long exposure shots.Distinguishing itself from similar SLR's in the same range, the Nikon D50 is always ready to shoot when that special moment or expression presents itself. When the power is turned on, the camera is ready to shoot in just 0.2 seconds. The shutter's release lag time is also minimized for near-instant response that virtually... | |
| | My love of Photography and Nature | | Since the age of 6 years I can always remember having a camera. Infact my first camera was an old Kodak 126 instamatic... Dont know if any of you remember those lol.. I know I am showing my age now! That old camera is something my mother originally was going to throw out! But instead she gave it to me to play with. After I had been given that old camera! My curious nature had me not wanting to play with it as mum had intended, but to learn how to use it! So anything that moved if I had a film in there was an instant target! From next door neighbours cats and dogs to the animals down on the farm at the end of the road! Nothing that was animal was safe from me at that time lolSince then I have worked my way through numerous of cameras upgrading all the time til now I am working on SLRs, now saving towards my first SLR Nikon DigitalAs I have gone on with the cameras my love for photographing wildlife has increased quite a lot, now I am also a member of the Northwest Photo group, a photography group dedicated to working with wildlife, helping to preserve and bring to justice those that miss-treat. Every year if I get the chance I try go out to Tenerife with a... | |
